The APM Standards Committee is an operating unit within the Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). ASCE is an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited Standards Development Organization (SDO). The purpose of the Automated People Movers Standards Committee is to develop and update Standards for automated people movers. These Standards establish the minimum set of requirements necessary to achieve an acceptable level of safety and performance for an APM system. The APM Standards Committee developed and maintains the Standards following a consensus process and rules administered by the ASCE Codes and Standards Committee (CSC) in conformance with ANSI rules for standards.
